Alexander Blume: Jazz, Blues & more
Father and son Blume have invited two top Dresden musicians to the Moritzhof Concert No. 24. The bassist Sina Rien is already well known to Magdeburg fans. As always, the strong rhythmic foundation is her responsibility. The violinist Sophia Heide plays first violin in the Mittelsächsische Philharmonie and is a stylistic jack of all trades. Whether it's blues, jazz, funk or tango — Sophia grooves with ease and refinement. Pauline and Helena Albrecht provide the vocal background. As always, Alexander and Maximilian have planned a varied journey through blues, jazz and related things.
The pianist Alexander Blume is one of the internationally known and most successful representatives of the East German blues and jazz scene. At the age of 20, he was already the leading BoogieWoogie and blues pianist in Eastern Germany and can now look back on over 55 years of stage experience and countless concerts at home and abroad. Alexander is also an author of music education works and a lecturer at various general and academic educational institutions. Sophia Heide studied violin at the Carl Maria von Weber Academy of Music Dresden and spent a semester abroad at the “Rimsky-Korsakov” Conservatory in Saint Petersburg, is a member of the Degele String Quartet, the String Quartet of the Central Saxon Philharmonic Orchestra, the Baroccolo Ensemble and also works in various band formations. Tango music is her personal passion. Sina Rien is a Dresden double bass player and composer. Even during her school years, she fell in love with this instrument, which sets the pulse of the music with its deep, warm tones and the various ways to play it. While studying music in Dresden and Wrozlaw (Poland), she played different styles of music in many bands. This sparked her interest in Latin American music. So far, she has taken tours all over Germany, to China and Brazil. Her own project is about her current compositions, which bring together jazz and world music and which she realizes together with first-class musicians. Pauline and Helena Albrecht have already begun their musical education at an early age. They now accompany Alexander at many concerts as vocal soloists and backing singers. Pauline is currently studying elementary school teaching/music and Helena is preparing for her high school diploma. Maximilian Blume, Alexander's youngest son, began learning drums and piano at the age of six. He wrote his first compositions a little later and has since played blues and jazz music together with his father in various formations. Tours took the two across half of Europe, to America and the Middle East. Maximilian has already participated in more than 10CD productions.
