ChoriFeen + Popchor Magdeburg + Cantamus Chor
ChoriFeen
The ChoriFeen ensemble met through joint choir projects in Magdeburg. It quickly became clear that the singers shared the same musical tastes and that their voices harmonized very well together. Since then, they have organized many different projects; among other things, they performed as guests at the Open Stage Kerben at the Schauspielhaus, gave summer and Christmas concerts at social institutions, participated in the Sommersingen festival, and are now taking part in the International Choral Festival for the first time. All the singers have years of choral experience in various choirs, take voice lessons, and some of them are also professionally involved in music and culture.
Popchor Magdeburg
Last April, the time had finally come, and Christel Kanneberg founded the Magdeburg Pop Choir, which is dedicated to English and German pop songs—ranging from true pop classics to current hits. Choir director Christel Kanneberg arranges and conducts the choir; she studied school music in Hanover, specializing in jazz, rock, and pop vocals and choral conducting, which is why she had long wanted to start a pop choir in Magdeburg. The Pop Choir made its debut at the last Kulturnacht 2025 at the Gesellschaftshaus and has since given a wide variety of performances, including at “Singing for a Cosmopolitan Magdeburg” on January 16 at the Alter Markt this year. This year, it is the festival and competition choir for the International Choral Festival and Competition, taking place September 16–20 in Magdeburg.
Cantamus Chor
The Cantamus Choir Magdeburg is a mixed choir with about 40 active singers. It was founded in 1974 and evolved from a folk dance group with a guitar ensemble that was established in 1945. In 2025, the ensemble—which was known as the Magdeburg Postal Choir until 2005—celebrated its 80th anniversary. Concert tours have taken the Cantamus Choir beyond various German cities to Prague and Vienna.
