Lions Club Magdeburg Kaiser Otto I.: Big-Band-Nacht
Another year has passed, and the Big Band is once again ready to present its new program to the audience of the Lions Club Magdeburg Kaiser Otto I. This year, female vocals take center stage. There’s a good reason for this: three fantastic female singers will take the audience on a musical journey from the traditional big band sound of the 1940s and 1950s - represented by singers like Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Sarah Vaughan - all the way to the modern era, shaped by songwriters such as Björk from Iceland and the American singer Randy Crawford. Of course, the male singers will also get their chance to shine. Thomas Walter Maria will perform the Frank Sinatra classic “I’ve Got You Under My Skin,” and Matthi Engel will sing Peter Fox’s “Schüttel dein Speck.” Naturally, this will be complemented by instrumental pieces that really pack a punch. Among others, you’ll hear the Simpsons theme song, Mario Bauza’s “Mambo In,” an original composition by our trumpet teacher Vadym Pogorilyy, and a piece written especially for the KonBigBand by our piano teacher Marius Moritz. As always, a diverse program awaits you, offering something for every taste.
