Here’s the thing: Paul Sies gets bored incredibly quickly. In a world full of grim news, that’s actually good news for once. Because if Paul Sies didn’t get bored so easily, we wouldn’t be getting his wonderfully eclectic new album, *Ficken und Heulen*, early next year—an album he’s actually finishing up right now as we speak. Here’s the thing: Paul Sies is a born showman, but also a storyteller—someone who stands on fruit crates and stages, who sings, screams, throws flowers, and needs a handkerchief, whose voice says: I really mean that, and I really want that—here’s the drug memory, there’s the love song, next comes the political warning, and then suddenly something completely different—come on, come with me, hurry up, I’m already over here. What’s also striking: Paul writes songs that deliver big, round melodies, but which rumble down the stairs in angular boxes, spreading a truly wonderful sound, making noise, and opening up as they fall. And of course: You could draw endless comparisons—here, hip-hop that fits into the 1920s of two different centuries; there, a classic singer-songwriter track that suddenly morphs into a '70s rock beast and finally into a shimmering techno beat. Because: Why not? Nick Cave wears Tom Waits’ suit on the dance floor around the corner. Sublime and at the same time dirty. Dresden Dolls, Trent Reznor, Nina Hagen, Scissor Sisters. It all still sounds like 2026, which isn’t entirely unimportant. Diary, letter, indictment, confession, plea, play, outrage, movie scene, real scene. And all with a voice you want to listen to, no matter what she says or sings. Thank God, though, it does matter what she says and sings. So come on, Paul, one more time, please! Fucking and crying. With Paul Sies’ music, you can do both. Because. The King of Dark Cabaret is back. On tour this fall—possibly in a glitter jumpsuit—and right here…

A standing-room-only concert presented by Kulturnews, rausgegangen.de, OWTF Entertainment.
