U.Art-Galerie

In U.Art, the U stands for:

URBAN — art in urban space that inspires and opens up new perspectives.
YOU — Your art and ideas make the difference.
U = POTENTIAL ENERGY — Creative empowerment that creates change.
UNIT — community and solidarity for a lively neighborhood.
Detour — break new ground and experience the city differently.

It all began in 2024 with a mural at Umfassungsstraße 29: As part of the district project Moritz4all a large facade was designed with the motif of British artist Damian Le Bas. The effect was overwhelming and clearly showed that art in public space concerns us all — it creates dialogue, visibility and new perspectives.

This inspired us to create a vision of U.Art-Galerie: In the next few years, an interactive artistic gallery of painted facades, electrical boxes and more is to be created in public spaces in Neue Neustadt. Each work of art will have a QR code to provide background information, interviews, music and media — and can thus be experienced interactively.

With the U.Art-Galerie, we want to:

invite you to an artistic discussion and substantial discourse with the district
contribute to the beautification and revitalization of the district, which implies image enhancement and makes the district a tourist hub
act proactively against vandalism in the district
Encourage participation and strengthen empowerment to take responsibility and co-shape the district
Strengthen identification with the district and provide impulses
