Jean Claude Grumberg: Entweder … Oder
France: A Jewish and a non-Jewish neighbor, both apartment owners, keep running into each other in the stairwell outside their doors, engaging in lengthy conversations or quick exchanges of words, depending on the situation, within the everyday setting of these chance encounters. The author weaves together the oldest monotheistic religion, the history of the Diaspora, and the State of Israel. A construct of deconstruction of prejudices against Jews, Israel, and sociopolitical thought and action. The double standard undermines itself or is undermined: hasty conclusions and the recurring “Yes, but”—the plot casually develops its unstoppable momentum and has a surprise in store.
Running time 75 minutes, followed by a discussion with the audience.
